DCU Scorecard Rewards going away…

It has been few months since dcu – Digital Federal Credit Union, one of the oldest and famous credit union in nation annouced to close the scorecard reward points to all their credit card members. Starting Sep 2010, there will be no reward points to any of the purchase.

They are also replacing the cards to two types of cards, one ordinary and another one with higher rates which might have option for rewards points. So what they are trying to say, if you are willing to pay higher rates, you might be eligible for rewards. That’s not really good way to earn business. I heard many of my friends started using other cards or sign up for reward cards like Chase Freedom, Bank of America and CITI Bank cards.

Also you only have till Mar 2011 to redeem all the scorecard reward points stored away. You better start planning to use in this holiday time.

The scorecard reward points on the DCU card can still be transferred to your new card,if you choose the one with higher rate, and start earning the rewards(the rates are not higher though if you have a good credit history, just remains the same and you get a new rewards card with the same no). This way you can atleast redeem the points on the other card if you have not used that yet!

That’s true. I got my rewards card replaced by DCU gold card. I still not seen my old points moved to new card after switching to the card for almost a year now. I pay on time so I don’t worry about percentage but for others rewards card does have high percentage interest.

I got the rewards card replaced by DCU platinum card.I am having DCU for almost 3 years and have never used the points in the old card.I called the customer service number behind the new card and got all the unexpired (not sure how many years the points are valid) old points moved to the new card..I also made a purchase using those points now..thought this would be useful if anyone like me has still not used the old points.
